Chemical Plant Operator
Chemical Plant Operator required for our global manufacturing client based in Wolverhampton region.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are looking for an experienced Chemical Plant operative to undertake the following functions.
Apply all company and statutory standards of safe working practices and occupational hygiene to all work carried out so as to maintain the highest level of safety at work and environmental compliance.
After suitable training and assessment, act on verbal and authorised written instructions and follow standard operating procedures issued by production management and team leaders to meet production plan.
Operate the designated plants and associated assets efficiently in the production of existing products and services, ensuring that all required standards are met.
Carry out analytical work and data recording in support of production interpreting results and taking appropriate action.
Assist with raw material and product handling.
To promptly prepare process equipment and permitry in accordance with EHS procedures, for necessary maintenance tasks in conjunction with the team leader, maintenance department and core contractors.
Carryout work permits, ASI and AGT signatory relevant to specific plant competence.
Maintains cleanliness of plant and equipment by undertaking housekeeping inspections and plant housekeeping duties.
After suitable training, carry out maintenance tasks as required in a timely manner ensuring that all procedures are followed and standards are met.
Monitor the integrity of the plant and equipment regarding its safe operations and suitability for the task to be performed.
Make good use of logbooks and other methods of communication such as computers, technical systems such as SLIM and ROSS etc. Where appropriate, discuss and assist in the preparation and periodic update of operating procedures, documentation and computer based aids to further develop the efficiency of the production process.
When necessary support management in administration work, training and specifically delegated tasks such as modification, snagging and commissioning.
Provide holiday and sickness cover to maintain 24/7, 365 days production whilst adhering to WTR compliance.
To participate in ongoing personnel development using company training days, external/internal, use of company electronic training system; Training Mind, training courses and mentoring in support of the role (e.g. plant modification, analytical techniques, lab testing and interruption of results.
Where appropriate to participate in any other groups associated with production (e.g. permitry review, COSHH assessments, HAZOP studies, SIL assessments, event investigations, project management teams, production briefings).
Education and Experience required:
Ideally chemical manufacturing operational experience and exposure to 24/7 shift patterns and 365 day working
Experience of analytical techniques & testing such as GC,LC, TOC pH TDS etc
Understanding of mechanical fitting skills
GCSE level C (or equivalent ) English, Math’s and Science
Computer literate in standard and specific software systems
Ability to follow procedures, comply with EHS standards and take ownership for plant and equipment
Good communication skills combined with good problem solving skills based on a logical approach
Lead by example in delivering best in class QEHS
Salary : £30k basic rising to £36k after 6 months service.
Working hours: 36.25 per week on 24/7 shift Rota including mornings, afternoons and Nights.
